President Donald Trump reaffirmed his stance Friday that Pete Rose should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, calling his exclusion a 'disservice' to the game and its fans.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said: "I think Pete Rose should have been in the Baseball Hall of Fame a long time ago. I think baseball did a great disservice by not respecting his achievements on the field."
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred removed Rose from the ineligible list in May 2025, opening the door for a potential Hall of Fame vote. Manfred acknowledged Trump's support was one factor among many that influenced the decision.
Trump had previously vowed to pardon Rose, who died in September 2024 at age 83, after admitting to gambling on baseball games. Rose, known as 'Charlie Hustle,' remains baseball's all-time hits leader.
