Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh has banned seed oils from the team's training facility in Nashville, a move that has ignited debate across the nutrition community.

Saleh announced the policy during rookie camp this week, saying the team's nutrition staff is working closely with coaches and players to replace common oils like canola and soybean with alternatives believed to support performance.

"One of the first things we did here is get rid of all of the seed oils in the building, which I think the players appreciate," Saleh told reporters. "Ms. Amy has allowed us to attack the budget and get the players a better variety."

The decision has drawn scrutiny from experts like Matti Marklund of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, who argues seed oils "have been demonized based on misunderstandings" and that evidence suggests they are not harmful.

Saleh, who previously coached the New York Jets from 2021 to 2024, takes over a Titans team that finished 3-14 last season. He will oversee the development of rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2025.

The Titans open the regular season September 13 against the Jets.
