President Donald Trump spoke with the U.S. men's hockey team following their Winter Olympics gold medal victory over Canada. Matthew Tkachuk, a star player, described the call as "super cool" and "an honor."

Tkachuk expressed pride in representing the nation and bringing home the gold. "We're definitely honored to represent him and the hundreds of millions across the country and to bring a gold medal back," he told reporters.

When comparing the Olympic win to the Stanley Cup, Tkachuk highlighted the broader impact of the Olympic achievement. "It's almost more meaningful to everybody else in the sense of it's a way to unite the whole country," he stated. He noted that while the Stanley Cup is incredibly difficult to win, the Olympics bring Americans together regardless of their hockey interest.

Tkachuk indicated the team planned to celebrate in Miami before potentially heading to Washington D.C.
