The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has appointed Craig Tiley, the current head of Tennis Australia, as its next CEO. Tiley, who led Tennis Australia for 13 years, will transition into his new role in the coming months.
Tiley, 64, replaces Lew Sherr, who departed last year. Tiley expressed enthusiasm for returning to American tennis, citing his admiration for the USTA's work in expanding the sport and the success of the U.S. Open.
Under Tiley's leadership at Tennis Australia, the sport saw significant growth, becoming the second most participated sport in the country. He is now tasked with helping the USTA reach its goal of 35 million players by 2035. Prior to his tenure in Australia, Tiley coached the University of Illinois men's tennis team, leading them to an NCAA Championship in 2003.
