Aston Villa is heading to the Europa League final after a commanding 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at Villa Park on Wednesday, overturning a one-goal deficit to win the all-English semi-final 4-1 on aggregate.
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Unai Emery's side came out aggressively. Ollie Watkins scored in the 36th minute, tapping in after brilliant footwork from Emiliano Buendia.
Buendia doubled the lead with a penalty in the 58th minute after Nikola Milenkovic pulled Pau Torres' shirt in the box.
Captain John McGinn sealed the victory with two identical strikes in the 77th and 80th minutes, sending the 43,000-strong crowd, which included Prince William, into a frenzy.
Villa will face Freiburg in the final on May 20 in Istanbul. Freiburg advanced despite a 3-1 loss to Braga on the night, winning 4-3 on aggregate. Emery, a four-time Europa League winner, seeks to deliver Villa's first trophy in 30 years.
