Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 29th minute after a giveaway by Everton. Cody Gakpo assisted Salah, who calmly finished past goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Everton equalized early in the second half when Beto bundled the ball home from close range. However, Van Dijk's late header from a corner ultimately clinched all three points for the visitors.
