The Washington Nationals have banned an attendee from Nationals Park after a banner promoting a white nationalist website was unfurled during Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.
The team issued a statement condemning the act, saying it identified at least one individual involved. The banner, displayed in an upper deck section, called for the deportation of '100+ million.' Three people unfurled the banner and resisted removal attempts by an usher before leaving the ballpark.
Conservative influencer Jake Lang, who was among those who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, took credit for the banner on social media. The incident occurred during the Nationals' 'Salute to Service' ceremony honoring a veteran.
Nationals Park guidelines prohibit signs and banners that distract from the game or contain derogatory content. It remains unclear how the banner passed stadium security. The Nationals lost the game 7-3.
