Senior technical staff from Anthropic are scheduled to meet with officials at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington on Monday, following a late-week government order suspending foreign national access to the company’s top-tier artificial intelligence models.

Anthropic personnel have engaged in daily virtual meetings with administration officials since the directive was issued on Friday.

The Trump administration mandated Anthropic block all foreign nationals, regardless of location, from using its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models. The government asserts a potential method exists to bypass safeguards within Fable 5 that could enable the identification of software vulnerabilities. In its initial response, Anthropic moved to disable global access to the affected systems.
