AI code translation startup Code Metal has successfully closed a $125 million investment round, achieving a valuation of $1.25 billion. This Series B funding, led by Salesforce Ventures, significantly increases the company's previous valuation from November.

Code Metal's platform addresses the complexity of low-level programming languages, crucial for performance and power efficiency in connected devices. The technology allows developers to prototype in high-level languages like Python and translate it to low-level languages, simplifying development and reducing the steep learning curve.

Beyond simplification, the platform enhances cybersecurity by enabling code migration to memory-safe languages and speeds up software porting across different processors, reducing silicon lock-in.

The translation process involves analyzing code, generating a translation plan, and utilizing AI to rewrite software in a new language. A key differentiator is Code Metal's ability to automatically fix hallucination-related bugs using formal verification, ensuring reliability even for mission-critical applications like flight control software.

Code Metal's client roster includes major industrial players such as Toshiba Corp., Robert Bosch GmbH, and RTX. The new funding will fuel broader software adoption, expand the engineering team, and accelerate product development.
