Amazon Web Services has launched Amazon Connect Health, an artificial intelligence solution designed to significantly reduce administrative workloads for healthcare providers and enhance patient care access.

The platform automates routine tasks such as patient verification, appointment scheduling, medical history review, clinical documentation, and medical coding. AWS states this allows clinicians to dedicate more time to patient treatment.

Integrating with existing electronic health record systems, Amazon Connect Health uses AI agents to handle common operational processes, simplifying interactions across the healthcare system. According to AWS, healthcare staff can spend up to 80% of call-handling time manually compiling patient information.

UC San Diego Health reported saving approximately one minute per call, equating to 630 hours weekly, and a reduction in call abandonment rates by up to 60% during early testing.

Amazon Connect Health offers an evidence mapping feature, linking AI-generated outputs to their original sources for verification by clinicians.

This is AWS's first solution purpose-built for healthcare providers, aiming to streamline operations and reduce friction for both clinicians and patients.
