Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class action lawsuit accusing the company of misleading customers about new artificial intelligence features, according to a federal court filing in California.
The lawsuit claimed Apple falsely advertised the capabilities of its Apple Intelligence suite, including an enhanced Siri voice assistant, promising features that did not yet exist and would not be available for years-if ever.
Eligible iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 buyers who purchased between June 2024 and March 2025 could receive between $25 and $95 each. Apple did not admit wrongdoing but said it settled to focus on product innovation.
Lawyers for the plaintiffs alleged Apple marketed the iPhone 16 as equipped with Apple Intelligence and a transformed Siri, but those features were never delivered to consumers.
