Apple’s voice assistant is getting a major makeover. Bloomberg published images of the planned Siri redesign ahead of the official June 8 WWDC announcement. The overhaul turns Siri into a standalone app with persistent conversation history, file and image uploads, and privacy features like auto-deleting chats.
iOS 27 changes the formula entirely. The new Siri app maintains conversation threads, accepts file and image uploads, and introduces natural language processing into system-wide shortcuts. Users can describe tasks in plain English instead of memorizing specific command syntax.
The update also introduces “Extensions,” a framework that lets users plug third-party AI models directly into Siri. Reports indicate Google Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude among supported models, each potentially delivering its own distinct voice output.
Beyond Siri, iOS 27 packs a fully customizable Pro Camera app, new AI-powered writing and grammar tools, and custom wallpaper options. The Siri overhaul was initially planned for iOS 26 before being pushed to iOS 27.
