Breez, a leader in Bitcoin Lightning integration, has launched a new feature enabling developers to route payments from users' Bitcoin balances directly to recipients in USDC or USDT stablecoins.
The capability operates across more than 30 blockchains, simplifying what was previously a multi-step process. End users do not need to hold any stablecoins themselves.
This feature is part of Breez's SDK, its developer toolkit for building Lightning-powered applications. It is built on the company's Spark Layer 2 solution, which provides instant settlement and multi-asset support.
For developers building wallets, social apps, or remittance platforms, this allows them to offer stablecoin-denominated payments without requiring users to manage multiple token balances. The system can also shield users from Bitcoin's price volatility by maintaining a "stable balance" denominated in USD equivalent.
Over 75 applications have integrated the Breez SDK, including Deblock and Cake Wallet. This existing adoption provides a built-in distribution channel for the new stablecoin routing feature.
Breez raised $4.5 million in December 2022 from investors like Fulgur Ventures and Ego Death Capital. The support for 30-plus blockchain networks is particularly valuable for remittance use cases, where different regional corridors favor specific chains based on local exchange availability and transaction fees.
