For over two decades, Counter-Strike players have topped off clips during lulls in combat. Valve has now scrapped that approach in Counter-Strike 2.

The new system forces players to drop their current magazine-discarding any unused ammo-and draw a full one from reserves. This “full magazine” reload mirrors real-world tactics but breaks years of ingrained habits.

Most weapons now start with three full reserve clips, though some get fewer to reward precision or more to enable aggressive wall-banging. Early analysis shows 7 weapons gained total ammo, 16 lost it, and 12 stayed unchanged-shotguns benefited most, while pistol-spam strategies may need reworking.
