A new survey from Globalization Partners reveals that nearly three in four executives find their returns on AI investments underwhelming. Among 2,850 global business leaders, 73% said AI has not met expectations, and 70% warned they will scale back investments if productivity gains don't materialize this year.

88% of executives worry employees are merely "performing productivity" - using AI to appear busy without delivering real business value. Additionally, 69% report that AI has increased workloads, as staff spend more time monitoring and correcting AI outputs.

The report describes this as a "hidden tax on AI adoption," potentially offsetting promised efficiency gains. Still, 69% of U.S. HR executives view AI as a long-term shift, and 82% of all executives say AI has lowered the value they place on human employees.
