China's new five-year policy blueprint outlines aggressive ambitions to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) throughout its economy and lead in emerging technologies. The plan aims for "decisive breakthroughs in key core technologies" such as quantum computing and humanoid robots.

This tech focus addresses China's aging workforce and the strategic competition with the United States for technological dominance. The plan includes an "AI+ action plan" and specific measures like using robots for labor-shortage sectors and deploying AI agents for minimal human guidance. Beijing intends to boost productivity in manufacturing, logistics, education, and healthcare.
