Google has unveiled a new feature for its Gemini AI called "notebooks." This functionality allows users to create specialized chats centered around a single topic, acting as personal knowledge bases.

Notebooks enable users to upload relevant resources directly into the chat, including documents from Google Drive, local files, websites, or clipboard text. Existing relevant chats can also be moved into a notebook. Gemini will then leverage these uploaded sources to provide detailed and contextually relevant responses to user prompts.

A significant benefit of this feature is its seamless synchronization with Google's NotebookLM research tool. Notebooks created in Gemini will automatically appear in NotebookLM, allowing users to continue their work and access NotebookLM's advanced capabilities, such as transforming research into videos or podcasts.

The notebooks feature is rolling out to all Gemini users, with paid subscribers receiving priority access initially. The feature will become available to mobile and free users in the coming weeks.
