Google is rolling out a major update to the Gemini app, pushing the assistant beyond a simple chatbot. The company announced Gemini has surpassed 900 million monthly users across 230 countries and 70 languages.

The key launch is Gemini Spark, described as a 24/7 personal AI agent. It runs in the background across Gmail, Docs, and Slides, handling recurring tasks, organizing emails, and drafting messages, even when the device is locked. Beta access for Spark starts next week for US-based Google AI Ultra subscribers.

Google also introduced Gemini Omni, a model that converts text, image, and video prompts into high-quality video outputs. It supports conversational video editing, background swaps, and custom AI avatars, rolling out to Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers globally.

Other updates include Daily Brief, a personalized morning digest from Gmail and Calendar, and a redesigned interface named Neural Expressive with fluid animations and haptic feedback. Google also launched a macOS app, with Spark integration and voice features planned for later this summer.
