Customer relationship management vendor HubSpot has rolled out new product updates designed to help sales and marketing teams adapt to a significant shift in buyer research and engagement, with a special focus on AI-driven search tools.
The Spring 2026 Spotlight announcements from HubSpot executives highlight the growing importance of "context"-customer data, behavioral signals, and operational history-to enhance AI system effectiveness in marketing, sales, and support. The company states that AI systems produce more relevant outputs when tightly integrated with customer data and business processes. These updates reflect a broader industry transition from traditional search to AI-assisted discovery and automation.
A key addition is HubSpot Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), a tool to help companies understand their visibility in AI-generated responses from large language models. AEO provides insights into brand mentions, competitive positioning, and citation sources, offering recommendations for improvement. HubSpot reports a 27% year-over-year decline in organic web traffic for its customers, while traffic from AI sources is increasing and converting at higher rates.
Unlike traditional SEO, AEO focuses on broader signals like brand presence, third-party content, reviews, and social media activity, recognizing that AI compresses research steps, leading prospects to arrive later in the buying cycle with more information. Early beta users are seeing approximately 20% higher AI referral traffic and leads converting at three times the rate of traditional search traffic.
HubSpot is also expanding its Breeze Assistant, a conversational AI tool supporting "Loop Marketing" by using customer data to guide campaign development. The assistant can generate customer profiles, brand guidelines, and campaign plans based on existing HubSpot data.
For sales, updates to the Prospecting Agent and a new feature called Smart Deal Progression aim to reduce administrative overhead. The Prospecting Agent identifies potential buyers by monitoring signals like funding announcements and hiring activity, then generates outreach messages. Smart Deal Progression analyzes meeting transcripts and CRM data to recommend deal record updates, suggest next steps, and draft follow-up emails.
In customer support, the enhanced Customer Agent now handles email interactions, resolving an average of 65% of support conversations. The system uses customer history to generate responses and provides context for escalations to human agents when needed.
HubSpot reported $3.13 billion in revenue for 2025, a 19% year-over-year increase, and serves over 288,000 global customers.
