Honda has unveiled a prototype solution for those who want to camp without owning a large truck or SUV. The Base Station Prototype is a towable camper trailer designed to be pulled by a crossover or similar-sized vehicle.
The compact trailer is engineered to fit in a standard garage or parking space. Its design includes a foldout futon and an optional bunk bed, sleeping up to four people. The top raises to create seven feet of stand-up space, and a hinged rear tailgate opens directly to the campsite.
The white, boxy unit features large windows with programmable ambient light rings. Standard equipment includes a heater, with options for an air conditioner, external shower, and kitchen.
Honda has not announced a sale date or pricing for the Base Station Prototype.
