A humanoid robot has achieved a stunning victory in Beijing's E-Town Half Marathon, completing the 21km course in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. This time significantly surpasses the current human half-marathon world record.
The winning robot, developed by Chinese smartphone maker Honor, demonstrates China's accelerating technological progress. This year's event saw a dramatic improvement from last year, where the winning robot finished in over two and a half hours. The competition included over 100 teams, with some robots navigating autonomously and others remotely controlled.
This advancement aligns with China's national strategy to lead in frontier technologies, including humanoid robots, as outlined in its latest five-year plan. Several Chinese companies are now recognized as top-tier global vendors in the general-purpose intelligent robot market.
