Roku's budget-friendly streaming service, Howdy, has surpassed 1 million subscribers just six months after its August launch, according to data from research firm Antenna.
The $3 per month, ad-free service saw nearly 300,000 sign-ups in its debut month and has added roughly 100,000 subscribers every month since. Antenna reports that Howdy now accounts for 23% of all subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) sign-ups made through the Roku Channel.

Initially exclusive to Roku's platform, the service expanded distribution in March, becoming available on Amazon Prime Video and as a standalone iOS and Android app.
Howdy's library leans heavily on older content, with a slogan that promises "Almost everything you want to watch." Featured titles include Foxcatcher (2014), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), and The Age of Innocence (1993).
