NASA is targeting March 6 for its Artemis II mission, which will send four astronauts on a journey around the moon. The announcement follows a successful, nearly 50-hour rehearsal of the launch countdown, overcoming previous issues with rocket fuelling.

Officials confirmed that the critical "Wet Dress Rehearsal" for the Space Launch System rocket proceeded smoothly, with no recurrence of the hydrogen leaks that had previously delayed preparations. This comprehensive simulation of a launch-day countdown is a significant step for the program.

While the rehearsal was a success, NASA acknowledges that remaining pre-flight checks, including testing the flight termination system and a final Flight Readiness Review, could potentially adjust the launch date within NASA's March launch window. Launch director Charlie Blackwell-Thompson expressed confidence in the team, stating the rehearsal was a "big step in us earning our right to fly."
