NASA officials announced Friday they are targeting March 6 for the Artemis II mission, which will send four astronauts on a journey around the Moon and back. This target follows a successful second key launch rehearsal this week, which resolved issues that had previously delayed preparations.
The space agency completed a nearly 50-hour rehearsal of the Artemis II launch countdown on Thursday night. During this rehearsal, the rocket was fueled with approximately 730,000 gallons of propellant without encountering the hydrogen leaks that had disrupted an earlier rehearsal.
