South Korea's SK Hynix announced a more than five-fold surge in first-quarter operating profit, reaching a record high. The artificial intelligence boom fueled strong demand for both advanced and conventional memory chip products.

SK Hynix stated that as AI evolves from large model training to agentic AI performing real-time inference, the demand for both DRAM and NAND flash memory is expanding.

The Nvidia supplier reported an operating profit of 37.6 trillion won ($25.42 billion) for the January-March period, a significant increase from 7.4 trillion won a year ago. Quarterly revenue also jumped 198% to 52.6 trillion won.
