Near Berlin, a massive e-commerce warehouse now deploys AI-driven robots that handle over 600 units per hour. These machines autonomously identify each item's nature, size, shape and weight, optimizing handling in real time.

“The robots work 24/7-consistent and without breaks,” says Nitin Annam, Head of Operations at CEVA Logistics. “It’s not about replacing people, but producing more volume at cheaper cost.”

The technology, developed by Polish startup Nomagic, uses cloud-based AI to let robots learn from every pick. Ewa Maciaś, Director of Software Engineering, explains: “We collect sensor readings and images to train the machine learning model, helping robots adapt to new items instantly.”

Klaus Lichtenfeld, Head of EU Logistics for a major online fashion retailer, notes e-commerce volatility makes staff planning difficult. The robots absorb volume spikes effortlessly.

Nomagic tripled business in recent years and secured €50 million in 2025 for AI innovation. CEO Kacper Nowicki says employees take pride in working with advanced technology rather than repetitive manual tasks.

Yet industry leaders insist a humanless warehouse is impossible. “There will always be human employees,” Lichtenfeld says. “It’s about harmony-moving forward together.”
