March 19: OpenAI confirmed plans to combine its ChatGPT app, coding platform Codex, and browser into one desktop 'superapp' to simplify user experience.

OpenAI President Greg Brockman will oversee the product overhaul, while Chief of Applications Fidji Simo will lead sales efforts as the company prepares to launch the new app.

Simo told employees that fragmentation was slowing progress and making it harder to meet quality standards. Executives hope the move will help OpenAI compete with rivals like Anthropic.

Earlier this year, OpenAI launched a standalone desktop version of Codex to strengthen its position in AI code-generation.
