SAN FRANCISCO, March 23 - Oracle is overhauling its cloud-based Fusion finance and procurement suite to empower AI agents that autonomously gather data, execute transactions, and generate insights.

The move targets a core industry concern: that AI will render enterprise software obsolete. Oracle executives argue the opposite - that AI will elevate their platforms by automating low-value tasks.

Steve Miranda, Executive Vice President of Applications Development, said AI will now handle invoice entry, purchase orders, and cross-system data aggregation - functions once done by humans.

"Typing in an invoice isn't a high-value skill," Miranda said. "Decision-making - negotiating suppliers, setting risk tolerance, anticipating supply chain disruptions - that remains human."

The updated suite will allow executives to pose business questions directly - "How do we cut production costs?" - and let AI retrieve and synthesize scattered data across Oracle and third-party systems.

Oracle’s stock has fallen 40% this year amid fears of AI disruption. The company’s response is clear: automate the routine, amplify the strategic.
