Nintendo is re-releasing the Game Boy Advance remakes of Pokémon Red and Green, titled FireRed and LeafGreen, on the Nintendo Switch for $20 each.

These titles were notable for being among the first Pokémon games to support wireless multiplayer, predating the Nintendo DS's built-in Wi-Fi. The GBA versions utilized the bulky Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter accessory, which was sometimes included as a pack-in. This adapter enabled up to 30 players to connect in an "Union Room" for battles and trades, though Nintendo recommended players be within 10 feet for optimal performance.

FireRed and LeafGreen are adaptations of the original 1996 Game Boy titles, Pokémon Red and Green. The localized US release combined elements of the Japanese Red and Green, later releasing Pokémon Blue. A subsequent version, Pokémon Yellow, incorporated plot elements from the anime, a feature largely omitted in the FireRed and LeafGreen remakes.
