Panasonic, historically renowned for its plasma television technology, is ceasing its in-house TV manufacturing operations. The company announced today that Skyworth, a China-based electronics manufacturer, will assume responsibility for producing, marketing, and selling Panasonic-branded televisions globally. Skyworth is positioned as a significant player in the Android TV platform market.

Under the new agreement, Skyworth will manage sales, marketing, and logistics across key regions. Panasonic will continue to provide expertise and quality assurance, focusing on joint development for high-end OLED models. The company has committed to supporting all Panasonic TVs sold through March 2026 and those released from April onward.

Skyworth-made Panasonic televisions will target markets in the United States and Europe, with ambitious goals for market share in the latter region.

Panasonic's TV business has seen strategic shifts over the past decade. While the company once held a dominant position in the plasma TV market, it exited plasma production in 2014 due to evolving display technologies and economic factors. This latest move signifies a significant pivot in its consumer electronics strategy.
