Starting April 10, 2026, Amazon will restrict 4K streaming on Prime Video to a new paid tier called Prime Video Ultra.

Basic Prime subscribers will be downgraded to 1080p resolution. To restore 4K with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, users must pay an additional $4.99 per month.

Prime Video Ultra includes up to five concurrent streams and 100 downloads. The basic plan gains modest upgrades-four streams and 50 downloads-but loses 4K and Dolby Atmos.

Existing ad-free subscribers-who already pay $2.99 extra-will pay just $2 more for Ultra access.
