XReal and ASUS Republic of Gamers have opened pre-orders for the ROG XREAL R1, a pair of augmented reality glasses designed for high-frame-rate gaming. Priced at $849, the R1 is available exclusively through Best Buy, with a broader release on the XReal store starting May 17.
The glasses project a virtual 171-inch monitor and boast a 240Hz refresh rate with a 0.01ms response time-the fastest in AR glasses. Powered by XReal's X1 chip, the R1 offers three degrees of freedom tracking, allowing users to pin the display in augmented reality without it moving when they turn their head.
The ROG Control Dock, included with the R1, adds HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity, making the glasses compatible with consoles like Xbox and PS5, as well as PCs. The setup is positioned as the ultimate companion for the ROG Ally handheld gaming PC, delivering a portable high-end gaming experience without the need for a separate monitor.
