Xreal Inc. has officially unveiled its Aura smart glasses, a lightweight device powered by Google's Android XR operating system and built on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite chip.
Scheduled for a Fall launch, the glasses combine a wired extended reality experience with deep integration of Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence.
"The new era of portable spatial computing glasses starts now," said co-founder and Chief Executive Chi Xu. The Aura delivers a 70-degree field of view within a device weighing less than 95 grams. It incorporates hand-tracking via world-facing sensors and aims to run numerous mobile apps from the Google Play Store, displaying information within the user’s sight line.
Google executive Shahram Izadi noted the platform was made for everyday life. Launch content includes productivity and gaming experiences such as "Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars" and the design tool ShapesXR.
The first wave of availability targets the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, and South Korea. For a limited time, reservations are available for $99, credited toward the final purchase.
