Roblox is introducing age-tailored accounts and enhanced safety features to protect its young users. The gaming platform will roll out "Roblox Kids" accounts for ages 5-8 and "Roblox Select" accounts for ages 9-15 starting in early June.
These new account types will feature new content standards and a rigorous review process for games. Content appearing in "Roblox Kids" accounts will be limited by maturity levels, with chat features turned off by default. "Roblox Select" accounts will gradually enable chat features based on age.
Developers seeking to feature their games on these accounts must verify IDs, enable two-step verification, and maintain an active Roblox Plus subscription. This move comes amid intense global scrutiny over concerns of child endangerment and exploitation on the platform.
