Singapore is launching a new Champions of AI program designed to help companies integrate artificial intelligence across their operations and workforce. Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong announced the initiative, which will initially involve a select group of pilot companies.
To join the program, companies must demonstrate a commitment to using AI as a primary driver for productivity, innovation, and revenue. Participants will receive tailored support, including AI transformation roadmaps, access to expert providers, and training for leadership and staff. This aims to equip workers for higher-value, AI-enabled roles.
Mr. Gan highlighted DBS bank as an example of an AI champion, noting its integration of AI and its initiative to provide foundational AI knowledge to all 40,000 employees. He stated that these champions will serve as guides, enabling other firms to accelerate their AI adoption.
The program also supports AI missions for advanced manufacturing, connectivity, finance, and healthcare. The government and industry will collaborate to identify AI deployment opportunities, fostering an ecosystem to expedite development and create specialized expertise clusters. These missions are intended to attract global AI talent and companies focused on practical applications.
