SAP SE has acquired data integration firm Reltio Inc. for an undisclosed sum to strengthen its Business Data Cloud platform.

Launched in partnership with Databricks last year, SAP Business Data Cloud enables companies to build insight applications powered by real-time analytics and AI. Reltio’s technology will help harmonize data from SAP and non-SAP sources, supporting advanced AI agent development.

Muhammad Alam, SAP board executive, emphasized Reltio's alignment with SAP’s AI strategy, stating that unified, contextual data is key to unlocking AI potential.

Founded in 2011, Reltio developed a cloud-native approach to master data management and introduced an AI-driven entity resolution system in 2021. This system creates 'golden records' by merging fragmented data across applications.

Tony Baer, analyst at dbInsight, noted the acquisition enhances SAP’s ability to manage external data, bridging internal systems with third-party platforms like Google BigQuery and Snowflake.

SAP plans to maintain Reltio as a standalone product while integrating its features into Business Data Cloud.
