ElevenLabs, the AI voice synthesis company, has secured a licensing deal with Stan Lee Universe to recreate the voice and likeness of the late Marvel icon Stan Lee using generative AI. The agreement, finalized on May 27, 2026, makes Lee one of the first deceased celebrities whose voice has been officially licensed for AI content at this scale.
The AI voice was built from professional recordings made during Lee's career. It will be used across ElevenLabs' product ecosystem, from audiobook narration in the Eleven Reader app to AI-generated comic panels featuring Lee's likeness.
The deal makes Lee's voice available through ElevenLabs' Iconic Marketplace for commercial applications, and also includes a non-commercial layer for public-domain audiobook narration and comic templates. Stan Lee Universe, a joint venture between Genius Brands International and POW! Entertainment, manages Lee's intellectual property.
