True Anomaly Inc., a startup specializing in maneuverable satellites, has successfully raised $650 million in a Series D funding round, achieving a company valuation of $2.2 billion. The investment was led by Eclipse and Riot Ventures.
The company's flagship product, the Jackal satellite, is designed for the U.S. defense sector. It features 20 thrusters for rapid orbital movement and multiple hardpoints for attaching hardware modules. Jackal operates in low-Earth orbit (LEO) and can also be optimized for geostationary orbit (GEO) and even lunar missions, each with specialized hardware to withstand extreme conditions.
Customers can manage their Jackal satellites and view real-time constellation data through the Mosaic software platform, which includes AI-driven features for mission planning.
The U.S. Space Force is set to test True Anomaly's technology in the 'Victus Haze' project later this year. The company is expanding its manufacturing capabilities significantly, aiming to increase its footprint to 2 million square feet and grow its workforce to over 1,000 employees.
