Uber is injecting $100 million into building fast-charging stations specifically for autonomous vehicles across the U.S.

This infrastructure push will initially focus on the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Dallas, bolstering Uber's burgeoning robotaxi services. The company aims to launch driverless taxi operations in over 10 cities by the close of 2026.

This strategic investment arrives amidst increasing competition from rivals advancing their own autonomous fleets. Uber currently collaborates with autonomous vehicle operators like Waymo in Atlanta and Austin, and WeRide in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

In addition to its dedicated charging hubs, Uber has also partnered with EVgo to deploy approximately 1,000 new electric vehicle chargers in key metropolitan areas including New York, London, and Paris.

The announcement saw Uber shares rise nearly 3% mid-Wednesday, despite a recent monthly decline.
