Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin believes artificial intelligence is dramatically accelerating coding, potentially leading to the Ethereum roadmap being completed much faster and with higher security than anticipated.

An experiment using AI to prototype the blockchain's roadmap to 2030 in mere weeks has yielded impressive results, according to Buterin. He noted that while AI-generated code has "massive caveats," including critical bugs and incomplete implementations, the trend indicates a significant shift.

Buterin emphasized that the gains from AI in speed should be balanced with gains in security. This includes generating more test cases, formal verification, and creating multiple implementations. He expressed excitement about the possibility of bug-free code becoming a basic expectation.

His comments follow the recent release of the Ethereum Foundation's "Strawmap" roadmap and his past proposals for quantum-resistant upgrades. Buterin also anticipates account abstraction, or smart accounts, to be implemented within the year.
