A new app called WildfireScore now allows Canadians to assess their property's risk of wildfire damage using a one-to-five rating system. Developed by AISIX Solutions, the tool analyzes data similar to what insurers use for premiums.

CEO Gio Roberti said the goal is to empower homeowners with actionable insights on how fires start and spread, factoring in terrain, weather, human activity, and lightning strikes. The score reflects national historical fire patterns and regional vulnerabilities.

Users can opt for a $20 report projecting risk over 30 years-matching the average Canadian mortgage term. Roberti noted this helps homeowners understand long-term exposure.

The launch comes as Canada faces more intense wildfire seasons. Data shows B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario burned more land last year than the decade’s average. Over 5,500 fires were recorded nationally by November 2025-surpassing the 10-year norm.

Current users are largely checking remote properties like forest cabins, where fire probability is higher. Future updates will include climate change scenarios and real-time alerts for high-risk periods.
