Robotic systems from Ambi Robotics and Pickle Robot are now integrated to tackle a persistent warehouse challenge: automating the flow of freight from trailers to pallets.

The setup begins with Pickle Robot's system unloading mixed freight from trailers. Packages then move by conveyor to Ambi Robotics' AmbiStack, which scans and builds pallets for the next stage of the supply chain.

This collaboration targets the loading dock, a historically difficult area to automate due to unpredictable box sizes and freight shifts. By connecting specialized robots, the companies aim to create a smoother, automated handoff that can work within existing warehouse infrastructure.

"Warehouse operators shouldn't have to choose between best-in-class technologies and seamless integration," said Jim Liefer, CEO of Ambi Robotics.

The technology relies on Physical AI, allowing robots to adapt to real-world conditions like dented boxes or misplaced labels. For retailers, such systems offer a potential solution to labor shortages and the pressure for faster e-commerce fulfillment.

While the automation may reduce physically demanding tasks and injuries, it also signals a shift in warehouse job roles toward system monitoring and exception handling.
