YouTube is launching a new AI feature for its Shorts creators called “Make a video with my avatar.” This tool, powered by Google’s Veo 3.1 video model, allows users to generate short videos, up to eight seconds, featuring a digital avatar of themselves. The feature is rolling out globally to mobile users outside of Europe via the YouTube app and YouTube Create.

The avatar feature aims to provide creators with a safe and secure way to appear in videos. Content generated will include AI disclosures and digital watermarks. This move aligns with YouTube's broader strategy to integrate AI tools for creators, following CEO Neal Mohan's vision for AI enhancing creative expression and viewer connection on the platform.
