Arab nations have strongly condemned remarks made by the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who appeared to suggest Israel possesses a biblical claim to significant Middle Eastern territory.
During an interview, when questioned about a biblical verse interpreted as granting Israel land from the Nile to the Euphrates, Huckabee stated, "It would be fine if they took it all." He later clarified this as a "hyperbolic statement."
Saudi Arabia labeled the comments "reckless" and "irresponsible." Jordan described them as "an assault on the sovereignty of the countries of the region." Egypt's foreign ministry reiterated that Israel holds "no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory or any other Arab lands." The Palestinian Authority noted the remarks contradict stated US policy regarding West Bank annexation.
The Israeli parliament speaker praised Huckabee's pro-Israel stance, criticizing the interviewer for "falsehoods and manipulations."
