Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has placed the nation's army on full combat readiness, instructing armed forces to prepare and implement response measures following drone attacks on Nakhchivan International Airport and a rural school. The strikes injured four civilians.

Chairing the Security Council, Aliyev demanded an apology and explanation from Iran, calling for criminal liability for those responsible for the attacks. He stated that Azerbaijan would not participate in operations against Iran, despite past incidents he claims were orchestrated by Tehran.

Aliyev highlighted a recent request from Iran's deputy foreign minister for Azerbaijani assistance in evacuating embassy staff from Lebanon, which Baku provided. He expressed outrage that, in return for such aid, Iran conducted a "treacherous and dishonorable" strike on Nakhchivan.

Turkey, Azerbaijan's closest ally, strongly condemned the drone attacks and reaffirmed its unwavering support.
