Police in Devon have launched a murder investigation into the death of former British Member of Parliament Ann Widdecombe.
The 78-year-old former Conservative lawmaker was found dead in her home near Dartmoor National Park on Thursday. Authorities say she sustained serious injuries.
Devon and Cornwall Police are seeking a white male suspect in connection with her death.
Widdecombe served as a Member of Parliament from 1987 to 2010. She was known for her socially conservative views and later gained fame on reality television shows.
After leaving Parliament, she became a prominent spokesperson for the anti-immigration Reform UK party.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood described the circumstances as extremely distressing.
