Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has confirmed an unconditional £5 million personal gift from Christopher Harborne, a British-Thai billionaire and major Tether shareholder. The payment, made in June 2024, went undisclosed until The Guardian uncovered it in April 2026.

Farage insists the money is for his long-term security and that he can spend it as he pleases. He delivered a blunt message to critics: "Mind your own business." The Parliamentary Standards Commissioner opened a formal inquiry in May 2026, examining whether Farage breached the obligation to promptly register the gift.

Harborne holds approximately 12% of Tether Limited, the issuer of USDT, the world’s largest stablecoin. He has poured over £22 million into Reform UK, including a record £9 million donation in 2025. Farage has been a vocal supporter of crypto-friendly legislation, championing the proposed Crypto Assets and Digital Finance Bill.
