WASHINGTON: A U.S. congressional committee investigating convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has released videos of depositions featuring Bill and Hillary Clinton. The former President and former Secretary of State testified before the House Oversight Committee regarding their associations with Epstein.
Hillary Clinton stated she did not know Epstein. Bill Clinton asserted he severed ties with the financier before Epstein's sex crimes became public in 2008. He maintained he did "nothing wrong." Hillary Clinton urged the panel to question President Donald Trump, a former associate of Epstein, about his extensive interactions documented in Epstein's files.
Bill Clinton acknowledged interactions with Epstein but denied visiting his private Caribbean island, a location where Epstein allegedly trafficked young women and girls. Clinton confirmed multiple flights on Epstein's private plane for humanitarian work in the early 2000s.
Epstein, convicted in 2008 for sex offenses involving minors, died in jail in 2019 awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.
The Clintons initially resisted subpoenas but agreed to testify after House Republicans threatened contempt charges. Democrats contend the investigation is politically motivated, aimed at attacking political opponents rather than legitimate oversight.
