Latvia's military shot down a drone that entered its airspace from Russia on Monday morning. The National Armed Forces said the alert was lifted by 10:30 a.m. local time after the interception. Residents in the eastern municipalities of Ludza, Balvi, and Alūksne were ordered to take shelter.

This is the second such incursion in two weeks. Last month, NATO reported an unprecedented scale of drone violations, prompting European leaders to plan a "drone wall" along the bloc's borders. A new US anti-drone system has also been deployed to NATO's eastern flank.

Moscow has dismissed accusations as unfounded.
