KYIV: Russia launched a barrage of missiles and drones across Ukraine on Saturday, killing at least six people and wounding dozens more.
The attacks struck multiple cities. In the northern city of Sumy, two glide bombs hit a crowded area, killing four people and wounding 17. A missile strike on the southern port of Odesa killed two. The eastern city of Kharkiv and the capital Kyiv also suffered damage and injuries.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said civilian infrastructure was hit before air raid alerts sounded. He reiterated an urgent plea for allies to deliver promised air defense packages, citing a critical shortage of munitions for Patriot systems.
Ukraine's air force reported downing two cruise missiles and 111 drones from the overnight barrage.
In a counter-move, Ukraine's drone forces struck fuel tankers and vessels in the Sea of Azov, aiming to degrade Russian military logistics.
